Spring Business Club

Great to see so many new faces and catch up with everyone at our Business club last Thursday.

It was fantastic to see inside the newly opened Harbour Beach Club, sample their menu and enjoy a welcome drink from South Devon’s Hattiers Rum

Jason Parry, Senior General Manager of the Harbour Hotels Group, gave a fascinating overview of how they’ve created more flexible work patterns and the job opportunities they provide at their hotels, particularly for young people.

We had an update on how our two grant schemes are progressing from our Vice-Chair James Spencer, Treasurer Peter Richardson and new Secretary Nicola Coulson.

Amanda Keetley spoke about how the Devon Environment Foundation works, what they do and the key reasons why Devon businesses should donate to environmental causes through them.

Rod Birtles from Devon Communities Together told us about how businesses can help provide opportunities for young people who are no longer in the education system, working or being trained for work.

And finally, Ali Jones owner of Salcombe Sea N Shore explained the work she’s been doing with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue. She told us about how the rescue volunteers attended a recent rescue of 12 stranded Dolphins

Plus the equipment they need to fund to rescue marine animals that need help in and around the South Devon coast.

We also announced the venue of our next Business Club!

The date is to be confirmed, so watch this space, and make sure you’re on our email list to get regular updates.  Thanks to Rich Fearon Photography for capturing the event for us!
