Meet the Committee

The committee is made up of local businessmen and women who volunteer their time and expertise each month by attending committee meetings, business clubs and socials. We are always seeking new members so if you think you might have something to offer and would like to help, then please get in touch with one of us.

A previous Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Samantha took over the role of Secretary at the start of 2021.
Two days a week you can find her in Totnes working as Office Manager of the Totnes Conservative Association and working closely with our local MP and Councillors.

Founder and Director of the Pebbles group, growing successful businesses in the UK property, travel and leisure sectors including Pebbles of Salcombe (2004), REFURB (2012) and HolidayHostUK (2019), Chamber Vice Chairman James has been a driving force on the committee for more than a decade.

Utility Warehouse

Peter has had a career in industrial and later consumer goods marketing and in 1997 he became an authorized distributor of Telecomplus a start up company at that time.
Steve is involved with a huge variety of events in the area from the Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival to the Annual Crabfest event in Salcombe.
Alex is currently the Financial Officer for a local law firm. He has worked across varied sectors including Property, Manufacturing, Legal and Financial services; specialising in Management Accounts, Payroll and Bookkeeping. Alex’s interest in IT has led him to be involved in ‘fun’ projects from forensic accounting to data migrations and subsequently is an expert on Excel, Sage, Xero and Quickbooks.

I am the Representative for Modbury and the Chair of Modbury High Street, a group of local businesses who are working together to promote the town of Modbury and to encourage visitors and residents to come to Modbury to shop, eat and explore.

Jenny Abrahall

Admin Assistant

Jenny is currently in her final year of A-levels at Kingsbridge Community College where she is studying technical theatre, product design and geography as well as an independent research project.

Jenny is working alongside Samantha Dennis to assist with admin with a particular focus on the 'Dress to Impress' project.
Cabinet Member for Economic Recovery and Skills and County Councillor for the electoral division of Salcombe.
Mark was elected to SHDC as an Independent in 2019.

Mark was already well known locally through his work as Salcombe Town Councillor, the Salcombe Information Centre, local harbour board and Cliff House Trust.
Nikki has been with the KSCC as an Associate Member since 2018, her knowledge of Salcombe and the surrounding areas is very valuable and her input to our meetings is more than welcome.

Cllr Anne Balkwill

Kingsbridge Town Council

Cllr Balkwill has been with the KSCC committee representing Kingsbridge Town Council since 2018 in addition to her position as practice manager at Selworthy Veterinary Group.
I have lived in the South Hams for over 45 years, working mainly in the tourism/hospitality business. I set up and established the Salcombe TIC in 1984, having worked at the Marine Hotel, Thurlestone Hotel in P.R and in conference management in the Cotswolds.
