Event Details

We are all living in such uncertain times, which in itself leads to anxiety in almost everything we see and do. Those in employment are concerned about the continuation of their lifestyle and family life, whereas those who have been furloughed or laid off have different concerns. Businesses are struggling to stay afloat but perhaps District 1175’s Mental Health Aware Project can help as Rotary Clubs throughout Devon and Cornwall the District have strong connections with their local business communities.

The District project to make businesses more Mental Health Aware has 2 more years to run and, because of Covid 19, it has had to go online for the next 3 months.

Our mental health awareness for businesses project has been running for nearly 12 months and encompasses 2 courses.

The first covers What is mental health, What is the spectrum of mental ill health, and What can it cost your business. £45 billion last year according to Deloittes.

The second course begins to work out what a business can do to react to this problem.

Until recently these courses have been given by a team of experts from Working Well SW and have been very well received. The current crisis means that these courses cannot be delivered in person so Working Well will be giving them online, via ZOOM, on alternate Thursdays until the end of June (next date 14th May).

Anyone is welcome to join, there is no limit on numbers. Go to our website www.mentalhealthinbusiness.org and you will find course details on there – signing on is done simply through the contact form.

We have held 7 courses so far with about 80 attendees and they have all been extremely well received.

Once we are back to normal, if there is sufficient interest from local businesses, Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club would be happy to assist with setting up local courses paid for by the project.  Please contact Kathy at the Chamber with your details so that we can liaise on this in due course.
